Click HERE to load a map of our location with the pool being red circled. The club
was started in 1992 by Ivor Pope, a local swimming teacher, who had a
lifetime’s involvement in swimming at all levels. He felt that there was
a need for a grass roots club in Hemel Hempstead that was small enough to
be friendly and inclusive. Ivor and his family ran the club for nine years
until his well earned retirement in January 2001. The club name derives from the phrase Fit For Life Through Swimming. The club logo of a family of penguins reflects our inclusivity. We aim not only to help people enjoy their swimming and achieve or maintain a level of fitness, but also, through teaching lifesaving, to give members the ability to save lives and prevent aquatic accidents. At present
we have around 50 members who train up to four times a week. The club also
runs swimming lessons for absolute beginners, tuition is in small groups
by our qualified and experienced teachers. All levels of ability are
catered for, children from 5 years old are welcome. Our students
have the opportunity to gain ASA Awards as they improve. For more
information and to book a place contact Debbie or Paul, details as per our
contact page. Our
coaches are Bob, Anna, Geoff, Becky Stephen and Aimee who have many years of experience
of teaching swimming and
coaching as well
as involvement in competitive swimming. Why not come along and see if we are the club for you, we offer your first 4 sessions swimming with us free of charge after that we are sure you will want to join us and obtain full club membership. |
